Finally i got 700 quests done in Kalimdor which was the final leg in the Loremaster meta achievement. In the end it was Silithus which provided the final quests. A little bit of Dire Maul too, which got me a leatherworking recipe for an ogre custome as well!

I was scraping the bottom of the barrel there. I tried not to do the Cenarion Circle reputation grinding quests for i don’t know how many twilight drops. In the end it was the following up to the Natalia quest, Into the maw of madness and the quests those unlocked at Bronzebeard’s Encampment which provided me with the final 5 quests.

My last quest? The Calling.

And yes, i do remember helping with these quests when i was a lowly level 60, december 2006, when i was still in the guild The Sisterhood. It was so tough then!

The Natalia quest especially is very clear in my memory. I was with Laurasha and Shandrelle, it was so hard getting into the hive, all these level 58-60 elite mobs flying around. Natalia herself healed herself all the time.

Tonight, it was an easy one hit shot from my side. No sweat.

So, this is a part goodbye to the old world, a long time ahead of when the Cataclysm expansion will hit!

Only thing left now is to grind to exalted Cenarion Hold rep.

And Timbermaw rep…

And rep for the Winterspring tiger …

And farm ZG for the mounts…

*sigh*

oh no!

 fun fun fun! i mean

I finally caught up with the Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement, which i wrote about in february. I discovered a few weeks ago i had never done the starting area for the Draenei, so that added a hundred quests or so.

Reading the comments on wowhead for this achievement i managed to get some more quests. At this moment i’m at 681/700! It’s now up to findig the forgotten out-of-the-way quests like Mist.

I’m working ont the Dire Mail rep quests now, which require me to go into Scholomance and Stratholme and go after some drops in Dire Maul itself.

Even though i got some Silithus quests left over, i prefer to hunt around to see if i can find a forgotten quests. Next part is going after the drops to get the escort quests in Tanaris. I’m pretty sure i skipped those when i leveled.. three years ago!

A confession: i enjoy doing simple things and i’m close to a completist. So achievements are right up my alley.
A confession: i enjoy doing simple things and i’m close to a completist. So achievements are right up my alley. It’s not the big ones i’m interested in… not all dungeon hopping and pet collecting (but i do want the Firefly!). I like the critter hugging and exploring achievements.

But, last night I couldn’t say no an invite to join a guild run for the Undying achievement: With one raid lockout, defeat every boss in Naxxramas on Normal Difficulty without allowing any raid members to die during any of the boss encounters.

It was such a good run! Not stressed in any way, almost relaxed. It was clever doing the hardest wings the first. Thaddius, four horsemen, Loatheb and as last Maexxna. It grew a bit more tense when we got at Sapphiron and Kelthuzad, but we kept it all together! Great feeling once we had the the achievement done! Next on the list the Immortal – which is gonna be harder of course! There is no room for any foul up, any disconnect, any lag. But we are getting closer each week.

For Loremaster of the Easter Kingdom i only needed around thirty quests more. It did take me some time to find any more, it felt like i had pretty much done the entire continent. There were some abandoned and previously unfound quests around though, and finally i hit the the achievement.

Now its down to the final roud, Kalimdor. Still 300 quests to go. I abandoned all quests i had in Silithus when the Burning Crusade was released. Now there is no way out of it. Still wondering where all the other quests are. Quite a few in Ratchet, i was there a week ago with low level quest tracker on and i saw a couple of marks. Aszhara, Feralas, i might have some unfinished business there too!

It’s a nice way to keep myself occupied during sunday afternoons. One day i’ll be the Loremaster!

I didn’t even know about new achievements in the game after patch 3.0.8. I scrolled through the list and saw a version of one of my favourite ones: To All The Squirrels Who Shared My Life. As far as i can see all Northrend critters.. to love and cherish! [Edit: turns out not all critters are on Northrend, two are in the old world of Azeroth, the Lava Crab and the Huge Toad]

I was waiting outside Naxx for a bit and decided to fly around, without peeking into tips and such and see if i could find some critters all on my own. Some were a dead give away, Borean Marmot.. kinda says it all.

I flew from Dragonblight to Borean Tundra, found a marmot there. Then on my way to Sholazar for the Tickbird. Through desolate Icecrown, not sure if there were any critters there to be honest. Only saw some cockroaches crawling around. Passing through Crystalsong Forest to Storm Peaks. I wasn’t sure there was anything there, just hoping to find an Arctic Hare or Mountain Skunk.

A short hop back to Dalaran to get my new Dawnwalkers enchanted and then of to Grizzly Hills. It seemed in the frozen and barren areas hardly any critters were alive. Byt that time i heard from an informed guildy some of the critter in the achievement were in Outlands or even the old world! This was getting a bit more than i expected. But patiently moving on. I was lucky in the Grizzly Hills, a Mountain Skunk close to the Westfall Brigade. I was going on the hunch the Grizzly Squirrel was somewhere around as well. Finally, close to Conquest Hord i found one.

On my way to the Howling Fjords. Close to the Kaluak i knew there was a colony of penguins, and yes! a bunch of Fjord Penguins were all standing on a icemountain close to Kamagua. The Fjord Turkey was easy, close to the Explorer’s League Outpost.

Fjord Penguin: Howling Fjords
Mountain Skunk: Grizzly Hills
Sholazar Tickbird: Sholazar Basin, the birds that sit on the horn of the Rhino’s close to Nesingwary’s camp (use /tar Sholazar Tickbird if you cant select them)
Borean Marmot: Borean Tundra (duh)
Fjord Turkey: Howling Fjords
Grizzly Squirrel: Grizzly Hills
Tundra Penguin: Borean Tundra (duh)

Only a couple more critters left, searching in wowhead.com now. So now back to Dalaran and Ironforge and Searing Gorge (look out for a Fire Beetle there – its for the achievement Pest Control). The Lava Crab was hard to find. Look int he Searing Gorge at the lava spots. For me it was the sounds it make which pointed me to them.

Arctic Hare: Dragonblight
Glacier Penguin: Icecrown (northeast on the coast)
Lava Crab: Searing Gorge
Huge Toad: Swamp of Sorrows – kill a Moccasin while you’re there, those are snakes close towater.
Scalawag Frog: In Howling Fjord on th island Scalawag Point, south of Kamagua
